March 31, 2006 - At the park

These are pictures of Tyler, Ryan and me at Oyster Creek park in Sugar Land. It was beautiful out this weekend so we couldn't resist exposing Ryan to a little sun. The dogs are not in the picture because we left them at home. They have officially been replaced. Maybe once Ryan is big enough we can all go to the park together but for now Ryan is the new "alpha" male.

Tyler and I began dating 10 years ago today! You think I would have him trained by now. It is so fun watching him with Ryan. He's a great dad.

March 13, 2006 - pictures

Ryan has discovered his hands this week. He is so cute. Unfortunately he doesn't have the best control of them yet. The other day he grabbed ahold of his ear and nearly ripped it off. He started crying and looked up at me as if to say why did you do that? He also likes to poke himself in the eye and "help" hold his bottle. Still cute though. He's currently working on fitting his entire fist in his mouth. I'll try to get a picture of his efforts. Above is a "G" rated picture of Ryan in the bath. He seems to like bath time. Maybe he'll be a swimmer like his mommy!

March 13, 2006 - 12 weeks old!

Ryan is 12 weeks old today. He is really starting to interact with us, smiling and "talking".
Here is a picture of Ryan being fed by his great Aunt Jeanie and a picture of Ryan flashing his adorable smile while hanging out with his grandma "Mimi". Precious!

March 6, 2006 - Home again

We are home from the hospital again. Ryan was found to have Rotavirus (a viral gastroenteritis or infection of the gastrointestinal tract). This infection is really hard on babies and small children because it causes bad vomiting and diarrhea such that they will need IV fluids to prevent dehydration. Thankfully Ryan has managed to keep his feeds down and is still eating enough so that he doesn't need IV fluids so they sent us home where we'll just have to wait for it to run it's course. We are relieved to know it was nothing serious.

March 3, 2006 - Back in the hospital

Ryan is back in the hospital again. Yesterday we noticed he was running a temperature and he was very lethargic and slept nearly the entire day only waking up for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. We saw the cardiologist and she ruled out the heart as a source of his symptoms but advised us to take him to the emergency room. In the ER he had nearly every test possible done. He had a spinal tap to rule out meningitis and thankfully it was clear. His blood work indicated that he more than likely has a viral infection but they decided to admit Ryan to the hospital and start him on IV antibiotics for the next 2 days until the blood cultures come back. He is much more alert today and is no longer running fever. Please pray that this will turn out to just be a virus and we will be home by the end of the weekend.

March 1, 2006 - 10 weeks old!

Ryan is 10 weeks old! When is that whole sleeping through the night thing supposed to happen??? Evidently Ryan did not read the baby manual because he is still eating every 2 hours! He is definitely keeping us busy. Good thing he's cute!
